Hellyers Road Distillery prides itself on producing the highest quality premium products produced from a pristine environment. So, how do we do that?
Tasmania & Beyond The Status Quo
Australia is a vast continent rich in natural resources, with an enviable reputation for globally-competitive primary produce, processed foods, high-tech manufacturing, the sciences & education, and as a fantastic country to visit with key tourist destinations. Located just South of the main continent, Tasmania is Australia's island state, and leads the country as a globally-renowned supplier of premium food and beverages. Hellyers Road Distillery is located in Burnie, on Tasmania's beautiful north west coast.
Nestled several kilometres inland, our distillery maximises key inputs of;
The cleanest air in the world delivered by the Roaring 40s that travel for thousands of kilometres over the vast southern oceans before reaching Tasmania's shores.
Meeting the rugged west coast of Tasmania and producing beautifully fresh water from their rains.
Tasmania - "Best & Purest Air in the World"
The CapeGrim Baseline Air Pollution Station, located in the far north west of Tasmania, regularly monitors Tasmania as having the world's cleanest air. The lack of pollution is due to the island's southerly latitude, its position in the Southern Ocean, low-key development, distance from other land masses, and the cleansing effect of the Roaring Forties.
The Cape Grim Weather Station is located directly in the path of the Roaring Forties, which are strong westerly winds that carry pollution-free air thousands of kilometres across the Southern Ocean.
Tasmania's environment is not just unpolluted air and water. Tasmania's agriculture has world recognition as being disease-free and this status is rigorously protected by some of the most stringent quarantine regulations in the world.
Equally as important, Tasmania has World Heritage listed wilderness parks and it is these forever-protected rainforests that provide the natural environment for us to distil our key ingredients.
Tasmania's land provides us with incredibly rich and robust soils that produce ideal conditions to grow and harvest barley, which is then malted right here in Tasmania.
